Racism | Acura's Superbowl Commercial

"#TeamRedBone, We don't want them Dark Skins...."

During this year's Superbowl, Acura aired a commercial staring Jerry Seinfeld and Jay Leno. Though we viewed the commercial without racial discrepancy, the casting call documents of this production proves to be more than inappropriate. Acura wanted an African American car dealer in the commercial, but not any African-American actor, he had to be a "Nice looking, friendly, NOT TOO DARK," African American actor. Where they do that at???

An African American actor, who was subject to Acura's discrimination, revealed the casting call documents. Someone affiliated with the commercial casting said they only added the "Not Too Dark" restriction because lighting and special effects would get tricky.

  1. That's not too terrible... They are looking for certain "looks" to be in their commercial and maybe that's just the exact way that they pictured it.. I don't think it's racist, but maybe I would feel different if I was considered "too dark"

    1. It is understandable that they want a certain look. But instead of stating "not too dark", which can and was taken to offense, they could've said nothing, and chose who they were looking for with no problems.
