Looks like Whitney Houston's hit will bring fortune to Dolly Parton. According to insiders Whitney Houston's estate will not receive the same fortune that the late Michael Jackson did when he passed away because most of her songs were not written by her but they were songs that Clive Davis told her to sing.
Most of Houston's massive hits were not written by her and according to the Huffington Post, at the time before her unfortunate death her label had been giving her advances.
Houston's well known hit "I Will Always Love You" was written by Dolly Parton who will receive the writer's and publisher's rates when the song gets boosted on radio and television appearances and performances.
It is possible for an artist to sell millions and millions of records and still end up owing money to the company (the same happened to female trio TLC). Most money that an artist makes is from ticket sales rather than record sales.
